What Happens Next?

Next we wait for space in the machine to open up. This happens when previously stocked goods sell out or new machines are launched. New goods are considered when space becomes available and we will reach out to those whose work would fit in the available space. We are a small team and appreciate your patience! Our machines are curated to have a wide range of product types and prices and the goods are selected to fit in each unique location. If we are not able to accommodate your proposed work please know it is not a judgment on your work’s quality. Applications are rolling and we encourage you to reapply with other work in the future.

Thank you!
Your Submission has been received!

Step By Step

Step 1

Tell us what you are thinking about vending in the form below. Please include any relevant links and images. This will help us understand how your item(s) will fit into the machines.

Step 2

Package a sample. Using the packaging info in the next section, please create a mock up of your item. We have lots of recommendations on cost-effective, eco-friendly ways to package. You can email me, steph@goodthingsvending.com, with any questions!

Step 3

** please MAKE SURE the sample includes your name and contact info as submitted in the application **

Samples can either be mailed to our HQ:

Good Things Vending
P.O. Box 480209

6977 W Oakton St.
Niles IL
60714

Or

Dropped at Lots'a during open hours (Thurs - Sat 12p - 6p) , clearly labeled for GOOD THINGS.

4150 N Elston Ave
Chicago IL
60618

If you would like your sample returned to you please INCLUDE a return envelope with address and postage.

Step 4

If the sample item is a fit we like to start with 10 - 20 of an item, this generally fills a whole row and gives us a good chance to see how they move. Once we confirm the item is stock ready we will send you another form to fill out for payment info and inventory tracking.

Payment for your items will be sent when items are sold out.

If items do not sell in a few months we may send remaining items back with payment for any sold.

You can pull your work at any time.

Questions?

A: The truth is we don't always know! Each location is different and we learn most by trying. We know folx love a mystery item, we know Kaiser Tiger loves cats and the Chicago Cultural Center loves a Chicago flag. Everyone one that uses a machine has their own taste so we try to curate a wide range!

A: Apply by filling out the application above. If you still need help, reach out to info@goodthingsvending.com.

A: All work is on consignment to start and artists are paid when a row sells out or when the work is pulled from the machine by either party. It's your work, you can request it at any time.

A: Nothin’ is better than putting new Art into a machine. We stock machines as needed, and take a picture of new work sitting pretty in the coils, put something up on social media and send the Artist an e-mail. We encourage cross promotion and sharing stories!

A: Yes. Please. No matter where you are in your artistic process, your work is valuable.

A: Within Good Things’ constraints ($1 minimum, $20 maximum), you do. There’s a suggested retail price request on the application form, and when we think your work will do better at a different price, we let you know. A $20 maximum keeps the stakes low and the art accessible.

A: Artists have sold zines, stickers, enamel pins, stuffed animals, croc charms, magnets, temporary tattoos, keychains, teeny canvases, wearable art like hair pins and bandanas. We’ve sold miniature rugs and figurines and cassettes. The point is: the sky’s the limit. So are vending machine dimensions. What kind of work sells best? Steph, Dave on this.
